Alanis Villanueva ’22

Alanis is concentrating in Molecular & Cell Biology with plans to take a bridge year during which she will either find a position as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or an assistant researcher in a lab. After this year, she plans to enroll in medical school. On campus, she is involved with the Biology Scholars Program (BSP), Person-Centered Advocacy Team (PCAT), and Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity. She is also a CHEM 2070 Teaching Assistant. Alanis also conducts research at the August Avery Immunology Lab located in the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. For fun, she loves playing the violin, exercising, hiking, and spending the day at the beach with friends and family. Her favorite class is LSP 1802: Introduction to Latinos in US History because as an underrepresented minority, she found a lot of value in revisiting historic events from a different perspective to that taught in high school. Last summer, she was a virtual intern in the Johns Hopkins Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Summer Internship Program. This school year, she is most looking forward to Bio Fest!
