Arsen Omurzakov ’22

Arsen is concentrating in General Biology with plans to take a gap year and apply to MD programs. On campus, he is the Co-president of Cornell Undergraduate Research Board, Chair of Student Assembly Mental Health Committee, and a volunteer for Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. He also does research in Clark Lab where he studies how the expression of functionally important genes is maintained in heterochromatic environments. For fun, Arsen loves to play guitar, explore Ithaca and spend a lot of time with friends! Arsen’s favorite class is MUSIC 2221: Bach and Handel. Last summer, he volunteered, studied for the MCAT and worked on his honors thesis. Arsen is most excited for BioFest and his first meeting with his advisees who have so many new experiences to look forward to! His words of advice for new students: “Cornell is a big place and you're bound to find a group of people you connect with. Get out there and find them!”
