Demetra Williams ’22

Demetra is concentrating in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. After graduating, she has hopes of either working for an environmental-based NGO/non-profit, a government agency like the EPA or Department of Interior with an environmental research focus or continuing her education in graduate school! Her favorite class is STSCI 2150: Introductory Statistics for Biology. On campus, Demetra is on the Varsity Women’s Swimming and Diving Team, and she works in Pete McIntyre's lab, working with freshwater fish and freshwater ecosystems. She enjoys going to the gym, having movie nights with friends, and eating lots of chocolate. Last summer, she stayed in Ithaca and worked in her research lab. She worked on her honors thesis in addition to getting the opportunity to conduct field work in the Adirondacks. This academic year, she is looking forward to meeting her advisees and getting to go to the Dairy Bar with them! Demetra's words of advice for new students: “College might seem tough at times but hang in there and enjoy the ride and watch all your hard work pay off in the end!”
