Emily Pogson ’22

Emily is concentrating in Genetics, Genomics, and Development with plans to pursue a PhD in molecular biology and/or genetics. On campus, she is involved with the Cornell Cycling Club. She has previously worked in the Plant Transformation Facility in Weill Hall, trying to develop methods for industrial hemp tissue culture. Currently, she is a member of the Schimenti lab, working on two projects to better understand the genetic basis of human infertility. Emily’s favorite class is BIOMG 1350: Introductory Biology: Cell and Developmental Biology. For fun, Emily is an avid cyclist who loves to spend hours exploring the local roads and surrounding areas. When not studying or on the bike, she enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking. Last summer, she remained in Ithaca to continue research in her lab. This year, she is looking forward to BioFest. Emily’s words of encouragement for incoming students: “Make sure to take time to enjoy being in Ithaca--it's a wonderful place!”
