Yasoda Mantena ’22

Yasoda is concentrating in General Biology with plans to take a gap year working a clinical job before attending medical school. On campus, she is the Marketing and Recruitment Chair for Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity and BIOMG 3310 Teaching Assistant. She also volunteers for Southern Tier AIDS, is a Thread Fashion Magazine Makeup Artist, and involved in Hindu Student Council. Yasoda also conducts research on animal reproduction at the Cheong lab in the vet school. In her free time, she likes to explore Ithaca's natural landscapes and gorges, read books, paint with watercolors, watch foreign cinema and dramas such as Spanish telenovelas and Bollywood! Her favorite class is BIOMG 3310: Principles of Biochemistry – Proteins and Metabolism. Last summer, she worked as a medical assistant/scribe at two private practices in Northern Jersey, one at an internal medicine office and one at a dermatology and orthopedic office. She will also be riding for her local EMS squad. This upcoming year, Yasoda is most excited to finally meet her advisees in person and get ice cream with them! Her words of advice for new students: “Light therapy is real! Take a moment out of your busy day to go outside and soak in that sun!”
