Zack Bellido ’22

Zack is concentrating in Genetics, Genomics & Development with plans to take a gap year or two to gain more research experience before applying to genetic PhD programs after graduation. On campus, he is involved with the Biology Scholars Program, Alpha Chi Sigma – the professional chemistry fraternity, Kappa Sigma as the Environmental Sustainability Chair, and Deixa Sambar – a Brazilian percussion ensemble. He also conducts research in the Berry Lab where he performs histological protocols to prepare mouse samples, including tissue perfusion, embedding, and sectioning. Zack loves listening to music, especially rock, punk, metal, and more recently, he has been learning to produce songs! His favorite class is BIOMG 4610: Development and Evolution. Last summer, Zack continued doing research in his lab. He is looking forward to BioFest this school year! Zack’s advice for incoming freshmen: “Don't feel pressured to do everything that others seem to be accomplishing, whether it's your friends or other students in the bio major. Everyone will be taking their own path in college and there's no one way to do it!”
