Heavy metals toxicology and trace mineral imbalances are my primary interests in the field of toxicology. Currently, Analytical Toxicology is studying the kinetics of lead in cattle in the field. Lead poisoning is a common problem in cattle and the goal of our research is to prevent lead contamination of meat and milk for human consumption. We have also done some work with selenium to determine optimum circulating concentration for health in goats used for milk and meat. Our laboratory has been at the forefront of several investigations of contamination of commercial pet foods by agents such as aflatoxin and melamine.
